ECONOMY AND JOBS

The current economic crisis has made rebuilding our economy and job creation the prevailing social issues of the day. Protecting and defending the economic interests of Missouri’s working families and strengthening our Middle Class is a cornerstone of my candidacy and public service.

We all know the consequences of economic recession: layoffs, home value loss, rising bankruptcies, loss of health care, falling household incomes. Finding solutions to stimulate the economy, save folks on utility costs and put people back to work will be my number one focus.

Stimulus and job creation can come through infrastructure projects, energy sector reform, health care reform and education.

I will support innovative legislative approaches towards helping to create jobs through public/private partnerships and initiatives to promote life and health sciences, energy efficiency and biotech industries to attract corporate high-tech expansion in Missouri.

I also support initiatives to rebuild our manufacturing sector, restore good paying manufacturing jobs and push incentives to help Missouri's entrepreneurs, small business owners and home owners.

Bringing and retaining high-paying jobs for Missouri requires vision and action. As a founding incorporator of the Missouri Association of Accredited Energy Professional (www.MAAEP.org), Byron has earned recognition in the new job-creating and environmentally friendly clean-energy industry. In May, Byron helped pass Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) through the Missouri Legislature an innovative approach for Missouri families to make our homes more energy efficient and lower our utility bills.
